Using the FunCam
The FunCam will allow users to control the camera's pan, tilt and zoom features. This feature is random, and only one user at a time can control the FunCam. If you are not able to control the FunCam, you can still view the live video stream for up to two minutes.
After your two minutes of live streaming is done, you can click "Refresh" and try accessing the live stream again. If the server is busy, you will still be able to view a static image that is updated every 15 seconds. The more often you visit the FunCam, the better your chances are of being able to control the camera.
Minimum requirements: 800x600 screen resolution, 16-bit color, Axis media browser plugin, and the Macromedia Flash 6 or higher plugin. If your browser does not have the required plugins installed, you will be given a chance to download them before viewing the live webcam feed.
What is the FunCam?
The FunCam is FunCoast.com's Webcam mounted on the breakwall at Battery Park in downtown Sandusky. The Webcam became operational in January 2004. We utilize a wireless Internet connection provided by Advanced Computers Connections of Norwalk, Ohio.
Fresch Electric performed electrical and cabling during the installation at Battery Park Marina. We call our Webcam the FunCam because our Webcam is lots of fun to use. It offers spectacular views of Cedar Point with its many roller coasters and thrill rides. You can actually zoom in and see riders crest over the top of the Top Thrill Dragster as it sends it riders screaming down 420 feet.
We use a Pelco Esprit model camera that allows you to control the camera's pan, tilt and zoom. The 23x zoom is powerful enough to let you zoom in on the Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Raptor and several other thrill rides.
